IMPORTANCE OF SWIMMING

Right from the beginning of time man has been engaged in several physical activities to pass time in a positive manner. Sometimes those activities became the cause of physical pain and as a result the person was unable to perform his routine duties properly. In those old times there was one activity that was done by just a small number of people only for the sake of use in emergency situations, this activity is called swimming. It took centuries and countless accidents of boats and ship wrecks to learn the importance of swimming.
Even after the awareness about the need to learn swimming started, there were very few people who were interested in learning the skill. There were times when only men used to swim. With passage of time even the women started to learn swimming. Till now though the number of people interested in swimming is on constant increase but the interest of people in swimming is still low as compared to other sports. If we see at the number of swimmers in a single country the results of the super power America tell us a story as it is only 20% of the population who actually know how to swim.
